My name is Hallie Boisseau, and I am a Paleo-Addict.

Recently I began consuming food in line with the Paleo lifestyle, and my experience has been so life-changing that I decided to write a blog detailing my transformation. My “journey” all began at work with a nutrition challenge. I work for a local government, and our police department participates in Crossfit through our fitness department. Now, I have never taken a Crossfit class in my life, so I cannot speak on those classes at all! However, a trainer decided to open up a “nutrition challenge” to the rest of the employees that use the fitness center. This challenge asked each participant to pay an entry fee and commit to one month worth of devoting time/energy to physical activity and abiding by the guidelines of a particular diet (choices: Paleo and Zone). The ultimate goal was to lose weight and to increase physical endurance. Since my boyfriend Shep was the one that did most of the cooking at the time, I got him on board for my month of Paleo dieting and signed up. After doing lots of research and easing our way in a couple of weeks before the challenge actually started so it wouldn’t be a complete shock to our system, we started our month long challenge a little nervous and excited.

However, once we were about a week and a half in, I became fed up with the challenge itself. I began to enjoy cooking for the first time in my 30 years on this earth, and I was feeling positive results already, but yet the trainer was questioning me with every food journal entry. The email that read “send me an entire ingredient list so I know you aren’t cheating” did not produce the emotions that I wanted tied to my relationship with food, so I stopped the program. As I said, Shep and I were loving how we felt, so we decided to keep with it anyway and have no desire to look back!

So here I am, hopelessly addicted to the way that I feel by living a Paleo lifestyle. I have also developed a love for cooking that I never imagined that I would have. I am so proud of my creations, in fact, that I have started writing this blog. I am doing it partly because I want to share my journey and partly because I want to keep my Facebook friends. I am fairly certain that if I keep posting pictures of everything I cook endlessly , I will be de-friended by most of my friends. On the flip side, so many of my friends have written/called/texted/talked with me requesting recipes for everything that I’m making. I figured that this blog would help both facets of my friends.

So there you have it. Hello blogging world, my name is Hallie and I’m here to make you hungry.

  1. Hallie! Just found your blog! It’s so funny because I have one too (sarasmiles.com) but at the other end of the spectrum: highly plant-based with little to no meat; lots of avocado, nuts, seeds and gluten-free grains. I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan or anything like that, but those are my preferences. I can’t wait to read more! It’s always good to get other perspectives, especially now that I’m in school to become a health coach and will be dealing with a variety of diets. We haven’t studied Paleo yet, but it intrigues me.

    • Hi!!! I will have to check that out πŸ™‚ I have been Paleo since February, so I am happy to tell you all about it! I eat mostly vegetables myself, though we do have a meat at most meals. I grew up with my mom being a vegetarian, so meat was never a huge staple in my life. That is fantastic that you are becoming a health coach! What a fantastic job for you πŸ™‚
